It hit a sunken rock on the Great Barrier Reef. They used a bandage to wrap it up and sailed into a cove to fix it which took 2 months.

he was first an appertice on a coal ship and after many years he joined the ro6yal navy
He joned the royal navy and he was sent to find Australia.
Well, he first was an apprentice on a coal ship, made master, and then joined the royal navy at aged thirteen. Once done that he traveled around Australia including other parts of the world.
In your opinion, what would have been Captain Cook’s first thoughts when he landed at Botany Bay?
He would of been proud of finding Australia and claming it.
He would have obvioulsy been proud, and same with his crew. Although he would probably be tired after all that traveling.

It started to sink when after hiting a rock.
It evenutally hit a reef, after all that travelling. If the boat had sunk, none of his history would have been known. Luckily, it was fixed.
